A World War II era summer uniform hat with a black visor embroidered with gold oak leaves, a gold chin strap, front hat band, and a gold metal insignia on the front of the crown. This hat belonged to Colonel William Francis Skidmore of the United States Army, decorated war veteran and former Professor of Military Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville until his retirement in 1973.
