A silver watch inscribed “Thomas Jefferson to General David Meriwether, 1793” on the outside back in Jefferson’s own handwriting. General David Meriwether was in the battles of Monmouth, Trenton, Brandywine, Savannah, and Charleston during the American Revolutionary War and was a personal friend of Thomas Jefferson.
