For the first time in its exhibition history the McClung Museum is celebrating the deeply-rooted traditions and colorful spirit of the Day of the Dead in fall 2022.
The Spirit of Día de los Muertos highlights the rich history of the Mexican celebration that honors and remembers loved ones passed with artistic sentimentality.The exhibition presents traditional and contemporary ofrendas, or altars, displaying the dedication and evolution of the cross-cultural celebration. One-of-a-kind installations created by Knoxville community participants and artworks by local artists will be on view. The related festive events, programming, and interactive installation will enhance the visitor experience. This exhibition is largely driven by the community advisory group composed of members on and off the UT campus.
El espíritu del Día de los Muertos

Por primera vez en su historia, el McClung Museum celebrará las tradiciones profundamente arraigadas y el colorido espíritu del Día de los Muertos en otoño de 2022.
El espíritu del Día de los Muertos pondrá de relieve la rica historia de esta celebración mexicana, que rememora y homenajea con sentimiento artístico a los seres queridos difuntos.
La exposición incluirá ofrendas, o altares, tradicionales y contemporáneos, que demuestran la dedicación y evolución de esta celebración multicultural. Se expondrán instalaciones únicas, creadas por participantes de la comunidad de Knoxville, así como obras de arte de artistas locales. Los eventos festivos, la programación y la instalación interactiva que acompañan la muestra mejorarán la experiencia de los visitantes. La exposición ha sido impulsada, en gran medida, por un grupo asesor conformado por miembros de la comunidad, tanto del campus de la UT como externos a él.
