Academic Programs is currently at capacity for the rest of the semester, and Object Study Room visits are not available. The museum will only be scheduling self-guided tours by professors, but please be in touch about future course scheduling.
The Object Study Room provides access to objects from the museum’s extensive collections storage for study by faculty and students. The room can accommodate classes of up to sixteen students and can be reserved by request through the University Class Visit Form. Due to the logistics of using objects from storage, object study room visits should be scheduled at least 4 weeks in advance.
The museum is committed to making all of its collections, whether on view in our galleries or housed in our extensive collections storage, as accessible as possible to the university community. As the museum’s galleries can only accommodate a small percentage of objects in its collections for display, the rest of the collections can be accessed for study through class visits to the Object Study Room.
The coordinator of academic programs will discuss the goals of the visit with you and then work with you to choose objects from storage to be displayed in the Object Study Room during your class visit. It is not our policy to accommodate classes in the absence of the instructor.
