Although its official address is listed as Kentucky, two-thirds of Camp Campbell lies in an area of Tennessee northwest of Clarksville. Established in 1941 as the U.S. prepared for combat, 250,000 soldiers had trained at Camp Campbell by the war’s end in 1945.
