Silver coin retrieved from the shipwreck of “Nuestra Senora de Atocha” that occurred on September 6, 1622 when the ship hit a reef and sank during a storm off the Florida Keys. The majority of the coins in this set were minted during the reign of Philip III, with a few earlier coins from the time of Philip II. The obverse of the coins feature a shield design, with marks for the mint, assayer, and denomination.
