"American White Turkey" Figurine

“American White Turkey” Figurine, c. 1976, Boleslaw Cybis, porcelain, 11.25 inches high, Warren P. Duggan, 1982.10.2.

The large figurine features a white turkey with a blue and white head standing next to broken corn stalks, small ears of corn on the ground near the bird’s feet. Boleslaw Cybis and his wife, Marja, an accomplished artist in her own right, first established the Cybis Porcelain Studio in 1940 at the Steinway Mansion in Astoria, New York before moving to Trenton, New Jersey, where this figurine was made.
