c. 1930 – A pair of anklets from Sudan, Africa; horseshoe-shaped in alternating rows of blue and white beads and cowrie shell dangles suspended around the curve. Horseshoes and cowrie shells are both traditional symbols of luck, used to attract good fortune and ward off evil spirits. 4.5 inches long.
