Clay Pony Figurine

Sculpted Pony, c. 100 C.E., clay, 4.1 inches high, Drs. Arthur and Roswitha Haas, 2007.2.481.

A grayish-white molded pony figurine that once featured the goddess Epona sitting side-saddle with a basket of fruit on her lap. The figurine was found by Dr. Arthur Haas “off the Grosse Bleiche”, a district in Mainz, Germany, at the bottom of what was a Roman latrine.
